Qualified Counsellor, Tutor, Trainer (RMBACP 54475)
I am Susan Simpson, 16 years ago I started my own journey in finding the 'essence of who I am' through starting a level 2 counselling course. I then spent 8 years in education, continuing my journey.
I have been teaching counselling in various colleges and universities for the last 12 years. I also have my own private counselling practice. Have I found 'ME' you may wonder - yes I believe I now know my authentic self, however, my journey continues.
My passion is Positive Psychology, finding purpose and meaning within life, enabling a growth process. I use the concepts of Positive Psychology in supporting other people who may be finding life difficult. Enabling them to find their own 'toolbox' of coping strategies to support their own mental wellbeing. People are not broken or need fixing, they just need someone to listen and walk with them whilst they find themselves as I did 16 years ago.
A quote that I endeavour to live by is by Katherine Mansfield; "I want, by understanding myself, to understand others. I want to be all that I am capable of becoming."
